Qatar: Great expectations
This week, we drill deep into one of the world’s largest liquified natural gas (LNG) producers – Qatar. As one of only three countries in the MENA region to record a budget surplus during the COVID-19-ridden 2020, Qatar is set to retain strong fiscal fitness well into 2022. We look at how:
- The economy is faring ahead of the world cup in 2022.
- Qatar is in pole position to become a key player within the green energy field. Indeed, a shift in focus will benefit the country thanks to the importance of gas as a relatively low-carbon transition fuel.
- Qatar is also progressing nicely politically. There are now more females than ever before in its cabinet.
